The START Entrepreneurs program seeks candidates with the skills and desire to leverage the resources of Princeton University to create and run an academic spinout. The goal of this 12-month program is to give aspiring entrepreneurs, including social entrepreneurs, the time and resources needed to translate academic scholarship into impactful new ventures. During the program, Entrepreneurs are supported with mentorship, entrepreneurship education and collaborations with faculty members. While much of the work is self-directed, each START Entrepreneur will work towards agreed-to milestones and review and update those milestones with the program team at least quarterly. The program is fully funded with salary, benefits & research funds. The program is open to applicants from all academic institutions. Appointments will be made through the host department at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate or Associate Research Scholar. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Eligibility *Earned a PhD by September 1, 2023. (If you don't have a PhD, you can still apply to be a START Entrepreneur here). *This program is full-time and does not allow for other, concurrent, work activities, including research not related to your spinout. Please elaborate about what you hope to get from working at Princeton and how you will contribute to the Princeton innovation ecosystem. (Maximum 500 words) - Why you and why this startup? Please discuss examples of how you have been entrepreneurial to-date (initiatives other than a startup can also illustrate entrepreneurial initiative). Please explain your personal motivation to pursue this startup at this time in your career. (Suggested maximum 500 words) - Statement explaining how you and your spinout will contribute to the University's diversity in academic entrepreneurship, broadly defined. Please share ways that you will contribute to inclusion, diversity and equity more broadly. (Maximum 200 words) - List faculty members with whom you would like to work. You can find faculty members by expertise at collaborate.princeton.edu. - CV is required - Please submit a 2-3 minute video introducing yourself and describing your motivation to be a START Entrepreneur at Princeton. Additional Information: Finalists will be asked to present a milestone-based plan for the 12 months and to deliver a 5-minute startup pitch via Zoom Finalists will be asked to submit a letter of recommendation and names of 2 people we can speak with to learn about your past experience and suitability for this program.
